SO...I'm thinking about repainting this area in our home. What do you think? Okay, just kidding. It's not my home. But it definitely caught my eye! How gorgeous are the dark shiny floors and the crisp, thick white trim? And the paint!! That's what it's all about today, the paint. I came across this photo while scrolling through... (I know, I know I'm addicted) ...pinterest. I feel like it sorta spoke to me a bit. You know what I mean, right? When a picture of a hallway speaks to you? No? Oh... Well, this one did.
We've lived in our home for over a year now and when we first bought the house it was a hot mess all over the place. The paint was dreadful. We had a giant list of renovations to complete, and right up there with the roof and the pipes I was sure to add the paint. I've always been open to color but seem to steer towards the same ones every time. I'm a fan of the earth tones and for some reason a good mossy green gets me every time. I've painted this in three of my homes now and I can't get away from it. It's a great color choice in my opinion, very warm and inviting and always gets compliments from guests too. The thing that gets me is that it's so dark!! The lighting in our home isn't great and let's face it, being cooped up in the house with three little boys all day, everyday can be exhausting. The last thing I need is a dark gloomy house to put me to sleep too!
I've been thinking about a change and my new vision is for a light, airy blue color with a bit of a gray undertone. Sounds dreamy, doesn't it? I've been talking about it with Eric for months and now that he's on board we just have to get motivated to do it. Which leads me to my hallway photo above, my motivation! Once I saw my friend Allison pin this gorgeous picture on her board I gasped, "AH! My color!!" ...Repin!!! And now I think I'm ready to paint! Thanks Allison! ;)
Goodbye Green!!!
Between the new paint and all our pallet-y goodness, we're gonna have ourselves a little home makeover! Maybe an upcoming 'Before/After' post in the near future? Happy Friday!!
I love your green! What I covet is white crown molding.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love the green too...and it actually looks not too dark here but the sun was super bright this day. When it's not shining straight it I feel a little gloomy lol And yes, white crown molding is DEF on our list! :)
